The Crown of Feathers Book Tag

1. The cover of Crown of Feathers is absolutely stunning. Pick a book whose cover you fell in love with at first sight.

La Belle Sauvage (The Book of Dust, #1)

2. In Crown of Feathers, Veronyka bonds with a phoenix named Xephyra. Pick an animal from a book that you would love to have by your side.

Faithful
The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce
Faithful is a mysterious sort of cat—and is there any other kind? He might be a bored immortal, a constellation wandering around in a cat-suit, or a messenger from the Great Mother Goddess on a mission—not that these are mutually exclusive, by any means. Whatever he is, he assists Alanna in her quest to become a warrior. He appears as a black cat with violet eyes, and he’s had two incarnations that we know of. His other incarnation, as Pounce in the Provost’s Dog trilogy, helped Beka track down criminals in her work with the Provost’s Guard.

3. Veronyka and Val are sisters, but they have a rather tenuous relationship. Pick a book where the protagonist has a sibling(s)—regardless of whether or not they get along!

Kingdom of Souls (Kingdom of Souls, #1)

4. To join the ranks of the Phoenix Riders, Veronyka has to disguise herself as a boy. Pick a book where a character disguises themselves.

Spin the Dawn (The Blood of Stars, #1)

5. Phoenixes play a large role in Crown of Feathers. Pick a book that features mythological creatures.

The Last Namsara (Iskari, #1)

6. Tristan excels as a Phoenix Rider and warrior, despite his fear of fire. Pick a character you’d like by your side in a battle.

Elisabeth, Nathaniel, or Silas would work lol

Sorcery of Thorns

7. Sev is a soldier, trying to escape the army. Pick a character who, no matter how tough they seem, is actually Soft™.

Ramson
Blood Heir (Blood Heir, #1)

8. In Crown of Feathers, each chapter begins with an epigraph, and you’ll also find letters and historical documents between chapters, too. Pick a book with expansive world-building and history.

The Priory of the Orange Tree

9. Val can be ruthless and does some particularly cruel things (no spoilers!). Pick a character who’s a bad b*tch—for better or for worse.

Angel Mage

Ahhh that was so much fun!

I tag any of my readers who wish to do this, I know that seems a cop-out but I’m okay with that.

I will need a lot of luck thinking of 11 facts about myself hahaha

Isabelle’s Questions

1. What are the top three qualities that endear a fictional character to you?

Oooh love this question. Okay, let me think.

1. Gruff on the outside, cinnamon roll on the inside
2. Values friendship/family and isn’t afraid to admit it
3. Makes mistakes but doesn’t give up

2. What are the top three qualities that endear a potential (IRL) friend to you?

1. Sarcasm
2. Dark Humor
3. Enjoys watching movies and stuffing face

3. Do you set reading goals? If yes, do you usually accomplish them? If no, would you ever consider it?

Yes. Every month I look at what books are coming out, what books I’m behind on, and what books I have tours for, and then make my list, and laugh and laugh and laugh…and then cry.

4. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate?

Milk chocolate, dark is too intense for meeeeee

5. It’s said that some tragic heroes are just in the wrong story. Name a character and a story (other than their own) that you think they would thrive in.

I think Lena from ‘The Weight of a Soul’ would thrive in ‘The Girl The Sea Gave Back.’ She’s the definition of a tragic hero but I think she would have done well in this other book setting!

6. Have you ever found any literary name twins, either authors or characters? How do you feel about them?

I know I have answer for this, somewhere, but I can’t think of any, I know I like Mary Higgins Clark and Mary Stewart, two authors with the same first name, does this count?!

7. Bed / Wed / Behead: Will Herondale, Gale Hawthorne, Rhysand OR Tessa Gray, Katniss Everdeen, Feyre Archeron.

Bed Will Herondale, Wed Katniss Everdeen, Behead Gale Hawthorne. [Nothing personal but we gotta have one beheaded]

8. Are there any books you love that everyone you know has added to their TBR but no one you know has actually read yet? (If yes, name it/them!)

I’m not sure any of the books that I love pre-blogging have been added to many TBRs of people I know, hmm maybe more people need to read Kingdom of Souls? I know a lot were excited, not sure a lot read it yet.

9. Name your favorite color and a book with a pretty cover in that color.

Purple is my favorite color, and I think the Owlcrate Sorcery of Thorns is a great example of a pretty purple cover!

10. Do you fancast characters? (ie, imagine certain actors playing them in a hypothetical adaptation)

I loooove to do that, is that not the reason pinterest exists? For making your dream fancasts of books you read and books you write??

11. Is there a series where the author could write twenty-plus volumes and you would read them all? (Assuming each one was of equally high quality.)

Tamora Pierce could write a freakin 110+ volumed series and I would be all in. That’s how much I love that woman, but Tortall focused preferably!

11 Facts About Me

1. I cannot stand going to the beach for the most part, I’m fine if I can sit on the rocks and look about, but I hate sand.

2. I am addicted to watching QI…like, I love learning pointless trivia

3. Halloween is my favorite holiday

4. I sometimes like to watch cheesy Hallmark movies for Christmas, like one a year.

5. I have randomly been to Iceland twice, neither trip was planned lol

6. I suck at chores

7. I’m both a cat and dog person

8. I’m addicted to shopping therapy when I am feeling blue lolol it’s not a great thing but it is true

9. I have an unusual love of plaid shirts

10. I have 3 tattoos.

11. One of those tattoos is a moose.

Candy Tag Time

BE Autumn_ Candy Tag (1)

As the pic says, what’s a book you only read seasonally? I picked candy corn given that I don’t actually dislike it but I will only find myself eating it at Halloween, you know when it reappears from the mines of Moria or wherever it comes from. This doesn’t have to be a Halloween/Fall seasonally read, could be something you enjoy reading only in the winter or summer…or lame-ass spring when my allergies come out with a vengeance.

For me, I always love to read Harry Potter over the summer as that’s when I used to do my rereads of it when I was a kid. I also love to read The Halloween Tree every Halloween.

A book you enjoyed taking your time reading. For me it was my nonfiction read of the Romanov family legacy over their entire reign, I didn’t want to rush it, each chapter covered a good chunk of history and I wanted to slowly wade through it. I also have yet to finish Water Babies [but that’s because I paused it for like two years lol].

BE Autumn_ Candy Tag (3).png

Self-explanatory from the picture!

For me it was The Starter Wife haha oh man that book was so creepy, but I enjoyed the creepy element..especially as it wasn’t happening to me. Creepy lady wants to win over a man, man is stupid and doesn’t realize it of course, it gets creepier from there!

Probably from Last year because they were cheap in giving out candy…but I’m not bitter.

For me, it’s usually a book that is just too ‘fluffy’ and romantic. I need to be in the right mood to read those things, around Christmas I thaw out for them, but like, not the rest of the year. In this case, I read ‘A Different Time’ for a blog tour and as cute as it was, I just wanted to hack a hairball through most of it.

Now I’m leaving a lot of wiggle room here, it can be unexpected in a good or bad way! For me I’ll pick one that surprised me in a good way, Postscript. I actually enjoyed this so much more than its predecessor, PS, I Love You and it hit me with so many feels. Such a rollercoaster of the emotions.

Well, I could go on and on, but I felt like 5 types of candy was enough for a cute little tag.

I hope you enjoyed the prompt/tag, and please feel free to do it and use my little candy banners too if you want.
