Bookending Autumn – Which Witch?

Today is my last day of hosting! Starting tomorrow Chiara @ Bookworms Anonymous takes over as awesome host and she’s got some awesome prompt ideas!

Thanks to Sam and Clo for putting together such a fun and awesome even as BookEnding and I am so happy to be participating in BE Autumn!!

Which Witch?

If you could be any witch or warlock from any book, which witch would you be and why? Would you be a Hogwarts student? Part of Coven, or maybe more like old school Sabrina the Teenage Witch?

I admittedly would have to pick Sabrina herself from the 90s TV series oooor a Witch from JK’s HP-Verse. However!

Today! The Witch I pick is…

A Witch like the one from Vasya’s family in the Winternight Trilogy. I loved the folklore and magic in this so much, and, I wouldn’t mind a Winter King to have adventures with! Not to mention the history steeped in the powers of Vasya’s family are amazing and it’s not so much about being powerful as just believing there is no limit to what you can do [and of course once you hit that limit, trying to survive despite the odds lol]. Not to mention she’s got ties to certain well-known people of folklore which I won’t say and spoil it if you haven’t read the books. A witch who helps the spirits of the house and forest, one who can see things others can’t, well it just sounds great to me.

There’s always a special place in my heart for Hogwarts Witches and Wizards and the gem that was Sabrina, but, it’s okay for me to pick something different every now and then lolol.

Today’s was a short prompt on purpose, I just wanted everyone to have a bit of lazy fun on this Sunday, and I hope that you all enjoyed the prompts I gave.

Book Ending Autumn – Monster Mash

Hey everyone, second to last day of my prompts, I’m sure you’re excited to be rid of me -just don’t tell me or it’ll hurt my feelings lolol, jk, I’m ginger, I have no soul and therefore no feelings-

Thanks to Sam and Clo for putting together such a fun and awesome even as BookEnding and I am so happy to be participating in BE Autumn!!

Today’s prompt is MONSTER MASH

What does this mean?

DANCE FOOLS, DANCE

Jk.

I mean, you can dance if you want to…you can leave your friends behind…

But this Monster Mash is for telling everyone your favorite monster/creature and giving us book recs to go with it. [Feel free to give movie and song recs, whatever recs you want!]

So, without further delay let’s get this mash started. [Please feel free to use the featured image if you like!]

Monster Mash Pick
Werewolf

I can’t help it, I have always loved werewolves, wolves are my favorite animals and so, I gravitate toward the monsters inspired by them and men.

For book Recs, I’m not going to lie, I have not read a lot with werewolves in it and I would LOVE to change this, so if you have any recs for me, please let me know!

Anyway, I have a duology rec and a standalone/series rec [you could read it as a standalone or as part of the series!]

Duology:

Camille

Standalone/Series Rec:

A Bad Breed
[Gaslamp Gothic #3]

I admit I did like what Meyers did with her werewolves in Twilight I thought thwas probably the most creative part and really enjoyed it. I also love almost every werewolf movie I have ever seen, whether because they’re good or they’re so bad they’re good.

I think I’m probably drawn to werewolves because they show us that there’s an animal inside us all. We forget we’re part of the animal kingdom, that we’re not above the other creatures. Somewhere inside us, we all have these base instincts. What separates us is how we resist those darker/wilder survival instincts. The fun about werewolves is watching them unleash that darkness, I have a fondness for it, there’s something beautiful as well as horrifying about it.

Anyway, there’s my monster mash pick, I can’t wait to hear what recs and monsters/creatures you all have to share!

Bookending Autumn – Candy Tag

Thanks to Sam and Clo for putting together such a fun and awesome even as BookEnding and I am so happy to be participating in BE Autumn!!

BUAHAHA I’m the host now, BOW TO ME.

Half jk.

Okay, so my first day of hosting consists of a Candy Tag…if you couldn’t tell from my vague title.

Prompt Rules:
1. Tag me the creator, por favor.
2. Tag the person who tagged you
3. Feel free to switch up the names of candies
4. Tag whoever you want
5. Have fun. It’s a rule, it must be done.

Candy Tag Time

BE Autumn_ Candy Tag (1)

As the pic says, what’s a book you only read seasonally? I picked candy corn given that I don’t actually dislike it but I will only find myself eating it at Halloween, you know when it reappears from the mines of Moria or wherever it comes from. This doesn’t have to be a Halloween/Fall seasonally read, could be something you enjoy reading only in the winter or summer…or lame-ass spring when my allergies come out with a vengeance.

For me, I always love to read Harry Potter over the summer as that’s when I used to do my rereads of it when I was a kid. I also love to read The Halloween Tree every Halloween.

A book you enjoyed taking your time reading. For me it was my nonfiction read of the Romanov family legacy over their entire reign, I didn’t want to rush it, each chapter covered a good chunk of history and I wanted to slowly wade through it. I also have yet to finish Water Babies [but that’s because I paused it for like two years lol].

BE Autumn_ Candy Tag (3).png

Self-explanatory from the picture!

For me it was The Starter Wife haha oh man that book was so creepy, but I enjoyed the creepy element..especially as it wasn’t happening to me. Creepy lady wants to win over a man, man is stupid and doesn’t realize it of course, it gets creepier from there!

BE Autumn_ Candy Tag (4).png

Probably from Last year because they were cheap in giving out candy…but I’m not bitter.

For me, it’s usually a book that is just too ‘fluffy’ and romantic. I need to be in the right mood to read those things, around Christmas I thaw out for them, but like, not the rest of the year. In this case, I read ‘A Different Time’ for a blog tour and as cute as it was, I just wanted to hack a hairball through most of it.

Now I’m leaving a lot of wiggle room here, it can be unexpected in a good or bad way! For me I’ll pick one that surprised me in a good way, Postscript. I actually enjoyed this so much more than its predecessor, PS, I Love You and it hit me with so many feels. Such a rollercoaster of the emotions.

Well, I could go on and on, but I felt like 5 types of candy was enough for a cute little tag.

I hope you enjoyed the prompt/tag, and please feel free to do it and use my little candy banners too if you want.

BE Autumn -Study Group

Thanks to Meeghan for a really fun prompt, as she is today’s host for BE Autumn! The Featured Graphic is also by her!!

Thanks to Sam and Clo for putting together such a fun and awesome even as BookEnding and I am so happy to be participating in BE Autumn!!

Prompt Explanation: Fall is back to school and you need to organise a study group. Pick eight characters and discuss which subjects they bring their expertise to. (Note: You can pick any subjects, or number of subjects, you just need to tell us why each of the characters!)

Subject: Math
Character: Henri
Book: Angel Mage

This boy can almost sense if one coin has gone missing from a pile, not to mention just a glance at the pile and he’ll tell you how many are there and how many are missing if any. I need this in my life to help with math lol.

Subject: P.E./Gym
Character: Nona Grey
Book: Red Sister

I mean honestly….how could I not choose this mad skilled woman?? Nona is a boss when it comes to physical exertion and endurance, definitely need her help as just the thought of running makes me want to nap.

Subject: Computers/Tech
Character: Noam Álvaro
Book: The Fever King

He knows what to do with computers even before he becomes fever struck and able to have tech-amazing powers! So, good, he can help me pass this class for sure lol.

Subject: History
Character: Anne Lawrence
Book: The Necromancer’s Bride

Considering Anne is immortal, I feel she’ll have a lot to offer in a history study group. Do I need to stress the fact she’s immortal, lol?

Subject: Biology
Character: Lottie
Book: The Art of Taxidermy

Lottie’s fascination with dead things is pretty useful, she has dreams of being a taxidermist which means she’ snot squirmish with dissections…unlike me who forgot to turn in hw and refused to dissect a baby pig or turtle for extra credit to pass…so…I took the second half of biology again lol.

Subject: English
Character: Ken Z
Book: The Importance of Being Wilde at Heart

Ken is a devout lover of Oscar Wilde and has a knack for words, so I think he would be super fun to study with!

Subject: Fashion
Character: Maia Tamarin
Book: Spin the Dawn

I didn’t take fashion nor am I sure if it was offered in my HS, but I know it was offered at the school where I worked as a sub! So, here we go, Maia is perfect for this!

[This Child is adorable]

Subject: Lunch
Character: Ron Weasley
Book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

…hey look, most of my subjects were music-based or I don’t really care about them, so, I’m picking lunch, damn it. And who better to join me than Ron Weasley? He and I would be the perfect eating duo.

Well, those are my subjects and characters, what about you all?

BE Autumn – Every Witch Needs a Familiar

Another BE Autumn post today!

Today’s host is the amazing Jamsu. You can see her awesome prompt and post by clicking on the link.

Thanks to Sam and Clo for putting together such a fun and awesome even as BookEnding and I am so happy to be participating in BE Autumn!!

Prompt:

If you were a witch which magical creatures would you want as your familiar?

This is really hard because I want to say all the animals.

But in the bookish world, I think in the end I would have to choose an amazing magical horse/bird, like, Solovey from The Winternight Trilogy. A beautiful bay stallion and a nightingale. He loves Vasya and protects her and supports her. What more could I ask for?

However, if I had to give backups…well…give me dragons, I don’t care if they’re the ones from The Priory of the Orange Tree or from Wild Magic, I want a dragon, damn it.

And at the end of the day, I would say I also would be happy with any snake. A Slytherin wouldn’t be complete without some sort of serpent.

Well, that’s all from me, something really fun to do and now, it’s back to packing for me. *Sobs*
