My Review
There was so much hype about this book I went in thinking I wasn’t going to like it very much or that it would just straight up disappoint me.
Imagine how pleasantly surprised that for the most part it lived up to the ype?
I will say that right off the bat this does not feel like Adult Fantasy, it feels very much YA in the characters and their way of speaking and interacting. I would even say NA would be perhaps closer to the mark. The only things that were dark enough for that were maybe the other types of interactions characters may or may not have and the gore/violence that may or may not have occurred. (I’m no snitch.)
[Not going to lie the intimacy that did occur was a bit weird I don’t mean in like ‘oh it wasn’t traditional’ I mean like ‘ah that felt very weird and a little off.’]
SUPER fun read, and surprisingly so fast and easy to get through. SO much drama and plotting and scheming, BE STILL MY DARK HEART. It makes it very hard to put down with so much going on because you constantly just want to be like ‘I’ll just find out what they’l do,’ ‘maybe just peek to see how this resolves’ and then boom you’re done.
I won’t lie, as interesting as all the characters are…Nico and Libby are my favorites. But all of the ‘cast’ was equally interesting and fascinating in equal measure.
NOT TO MENTION SOME OF THOSE TWISTS. Even if you see them coming, you were still like *GASP* especially with how it ended.
Now. Give me book 2.
Please.
My half star was for the fact that it read a bit too much like YA, and I wished some of the characters weren’t so immature but that’s my largest complaint.
4.5/5 Cups of coffee from me, thanks so much to NetGalley and Tor for an eARC of this in exchange for an honest review.
