Daughter of the Moon Goddess Review

Growing up on the moon, Xingyin is accustomed to solitude, unaware that she is being hidden from the feared Celestial Emperor who exiled her mother for stealing his elixir of immortality.

My Review

All the other books can go home now. This book just ruined me. I was so excited for it that I accidentally ended up with three copies of it……much like Illumicrate’s March book and now Atlas Six. (Judge me, like, I need it). Anyway. The point I was trying to make is that though I was super excited to read it, I waited until the Fairyloot Readalong to read it.

Because the Fairyloot edition was almost too pretty to touch, I read my Fox&Wit copy of it for the readalong.

Putting this book down was such a struggle. Like, just SO good and the pacing just done up in a way that had me gripping the book as if it were a lifesaver.

Xingyin is such a determined character, I immediately just loved her and I also enjoyed how she could clearly just accept when she made bad choices. She does not go down swinging with them, it’s refreshing to watch her go ‘oh…I made a huge mistake’ so even though I maybe annoyed with some of her choices, I definitely loved watching her just take responsibility for them.

The love triangle of sorts just wrecked me. I could probably write an essay on it if I’m honest but I will say I’m not sure I agreed with the way it turned out but it was beautifully done.

BETRAYAL JUST SLAPS. But I won’t spoil what/which betrayal.

Xingyin’s good heart is so sweet and her determination is great, I am SUPER curious how book 2 will go and I am all for learning more about the various side characters because I loved every single one of them. Hands down I would fight for that whole cast and I loved the differences between a certain prince and his parents.

5/5 Cups of coffee from me, this is just going to devolve into me screeching and throwing my hands in the air about how much I love this. One of my absolute favorites.

Ah this book was already on my TBR purely for the cover and the fact it has the moon on it, I am a simple moon loving child xD But I am ready for this book, it sounds like a good read that’s ready to ruin me haha.
