FEMALE STRENGTH: A BOOK WITH A LESBIAN HEROINE
✸
I read this as part of my Pride TBR and I have no regrets, one of the MC’s, Nausicaä is lesbian but the whole cast is just LGBTQIA Rep. Also Nausicaä is super sassy and a bad A and I’m pretty sure that teenage me would have a total crush on her. No regrets. (Review for this one is dropping this week!)

CINNAMON ROLL: A BOOK WITH AN ADORABLE GAY CHARACTER
✸
The Magic Fish is basically the most adorable graphic novel ever with the sweetest coming out tale and of course to go with the sweetest and most adorable is our adorable gay character, Tiến. I’m not lying when I say that he is utterly adorable and I love him, and the way this interweaves some traditional Vietnamese fairytales makes it ten times better.

BOYS & GIRLS: A BOOK WITH BI REP DONE RIGHT
✸
Pretty much Josie Jaffrey can do no wrong where I’m concerned, but all bias aside, I loved May Day the MC reminded me of Lost Girl and I loved her. Her love interest was just amazing BUT there was also this tension between her and her rival. It’s like they were equally important to her and equally drawing her in, in very different ways with a bit of enemies to maybe someday lovers sprinkled in there.

THE BODY & THE SOUL: A BOOK WITH A TRANSGENDER CHARACTER
✸
Sistersong was a great retelling of some cool a** ballad and I was all here for it. Throw in the fact that this focuses on two sisters and their brother? I’m all there for it. I loved that this one was the story of a transition, my favorite part was our MC tossing away their now dead name and taking up this mantle of being King and owning it with their name they’ve picked. It was a pretty amazing moment in the book.

WE’RE ALL QUEER: QUEER REP YOU’D LOVE TO SEE MORE OFTEN IN BOOKS
✸
Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman
This was the first book I read with an Ace character and I can’t imagine how important it was for others to read and identify or even start to question because finally books are starting to share the diversity we have in real life. I love this book and though it deals more with grief, we still have our MC learning about herself.

ALL ABOUT PRONOUNS: A BOOK WITH A NON-BINARY CHARACTER
✸
In the Ravenous Dark by A.M. Strickland
To be fair this book may have been middle of the road for me but I appreciated it a lot for the rep it had. Our non-binary is secondary but does get more interaction and focus than most the other secondary characters in this. And I love them. They’re a gem. (Rep in this: Pansexual Main Character in Poly Relationship with Asexual Nonbinary Secondary character)

A ROMANTIC ACE: A CHARACTER THAT BELONGS TO THE ARO/ACE SPECTRUM
✸
Emma is aro-ace questioning and really this whole series is AMAZING for this tag in general. You all should definitely take a look at it. Seriously, not all are these books great but they’re MG reads which I think is SO IMPORTANT.

ONE BIG FAMILY: A BOOK THAT FEATURES LOTS OF DIFFERENT LGBTQ+ REP
✸
I pretty much used up my biggest ‘one big family books’ ( A Dark and Hollow Star, Sidekick Squad books, In the Ravenous Dark) so I’ll go to the secondary book that fits this. Loved the diversity of LGBTQ+ Rep in this and the disability rep, it’s fantastic and again MG/Kid friendly.

SAPPHIC LOVE: YOUR FAVORITE F/F COUPLE
✸
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
Lei and Wren, I SHIP them SO HARD. SO HARD. They’re one of my favorite couples ever and I just adore these books. I’m definitely NOT ready for this trilogy to be over. *Insert Sobbing here*

BOYS LOVE: YOUR M/M OTP
✸
Another ship I’ll go down for; Nicholas and Seiji. I loved reading these, and honestly, I’m sad I didn’t read them earlier. I love the rivalry and motivation/ambition of Nicholas and Seiji in these. ❤

SIDEKICK: YOUR FAVORITE LGBTQ+ SIDE CHARACTER
✸
Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald
Ale stole the show, the best part is that our MC is LGBTQ+ as well (Lesbian) but Ale just completely makes the book for me. I love him and I want to feed him cookies and hook him up with the boy of his dreams.

STEALING THE SHOW: AN LGBTQ+ SIDE CHARACTER COUPLE THAT ROCKS YOUR SOCKS
✸
Jem and the Holograms Graphic Novel Vol.1
They rebooted the most 80est of cartoons I love in this graphic novel and I LOVE it so much. Kimber is now this amazing character and she’s totally into the ‘bad’ girl Stormer from of course our rival band, The Misfits. I loved seeing that in this comic and I thought they were so cute that I really didn’t care about our main couple, Jerrica and Rio.

STRONG BELIEFS: AN LGBTQ+ BOOK THAT DEALS WITH RELIGION
✸
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
We have a historical fiction with F/F and when you have women being strong, let alone in love with each other in the 1600s it can make for some fraught tension. The holy man sent to their island after they’ve lost all their men sees witches everywhere and I loved watching the women fighting with this idea of what the holy man thought religion should be versus what they had to do to survive, and that doesn’t even touch but the surface of our F/F love interest.

RAINBOWS EVERYWHERE: A BOOK WITH AN UNAPOLOGETIC COVER
✸
Hints of rainbow everywhre and just the magnificence of this makes me want to say this is the cover I’m looking for, for this section. This book features a great M/M coupling and an evil drag queen sorceress for a villain. Enough said.

FUTURE GENERATIONS: YOUR MOST ANTICIPATED LGBTQ+ RELEASE
✸
Girls of Fate and Fury by Natasha Ngan
If here can only be one, then I choose you! Seriously I am waiting on pins and needles over here for this book! Except the UK Version because I’m not about that Patterson banner on the top. Not particularly about Patterson at all tbh.
I Tag: To Do Now or to Hoard Until Desired (or never, you know, it’s your choice)
