Descendant of the Crane Preorder

[Images belongs to Joan He, it comes directly from the link to her preorder campaign.]

Do you see this beautiful cover?? DO YOU?? Great, because, if you’re on the market for an April book, please, choose this one. Why? Well, I mean first off it’s a Princess who is so determined to find the truth that she’ll do dangerous things to unearth it, but secondly, isn’t it about time we just took some more focus onto Asian fantasies and Asian/Asian American/Asian British/You get the point, writers?

[And others outside our normal westernized fantasy novels, to be frank, but hey I’m trying to get this post finished at some point today]

But, I’m not great at summarizing so here you go,

GoodReads Blurb:

Tyrants cut out hearts. Rulers sacrifice their own.

Princess Hesina of Yan has always been eager to shirk the responsibilities of the crown, dreaming of an unremarkable life. But when her beloved father is found dead, she’s thrust into power, suddenly the queen of a surprisingly unstable kingdom. What’s more, Hesina believes that her father was murdered—and that the killer is someone close to her.

Hesina’s court is packed full of dissemblers and deceivers eager to use the king’s death for political gain, each as plausibly guilty as the next. Her advisers would like her to blame the neighboring kingdom of Kendi’a, whose ruler has been mustering for war. Determined to find her father’s actual killer, Hesina does something desperate: she enlists the aid of a soothsayer—a treasonous act, punishable by
death, since magic was outlawed centuries ago.

Using the information provided by the sooth, and uncertain if she can trust her family, Hesina turns to Akira—a brilliant investigator who’s also a convicted criminal with secrets of his own. With the future of Yan at stake, can Hesina find justice for her father? Or will the cost be too high?

If you need more incentives, there’s also preorder swag. The bookmark in the featured image is one, along with 4 out of 5 character cards which can also be seen a bit in the featured image. I’m so excited to receive mine if I’m going, to be honest.

*** UPDATE: The bookmark is sold out, I know, oh noooo, but those cards are still gorgeous! ***

No money? No problem

Joan He has been awesome enough to make the incentives available to those who put in library requests as well. Not to mention this way if you don’t have money for the book you still get to read it when your library gets it and you still get the cool incentives.

I’m doing this of my own volition don’t worry, no one ever pays me for jack, but that’s not an issue, I really just want to promote amazing books that I think deserve to be read. I’m currently buddy reading this and you can expect a review for it in the next week or so. All I can tell you for right now is….

It’s already amazing.

So, if you’re interested, go do the thing!

Toodles!

  2. I’m absolutely loving the Asian and Asian inspired fantasy novels that have been released within the last year, Girls of Paper and Fire being one of the standouts for me. This sounds incredible! I hadn’t heard of this one before seeing your post but will be preordering tonight. I absolutely love the rose gold bookmark and that the preorder swag is open internationally, being in Australia we often miss out. Thank you so much for putting this on my radar!
