THEIR BATTLES ENDED IN VICTORY

BUT THE WAR HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN

Lydia returns to Mudaire to enter training at the healing temple. But instead of fighting to save lives, she’s convinced she is doing more harm than good. She delves into the history of the gods only to discover a truth that will change her life forever.

His birthright as commander of the Royal Army is finally in his grasp, but Killian feels anything but victorious. Burdened by his past, he embraces the darker side of his mark—and in doing so, risks starting a war.

Having defeated the tyrant Urcon, Marcus struggles to form a lasting alliance with the Arinoquians. But he is plagued by the knowledge that there is a traitor among his friends, and it could cost him everything that he’s fought for.

Torn between her growing allegiance to the Thirty-Seventh legion and her need to liberate her people, Teriana finds herself mired in a web of secrets. She embarks upon a path that will either save everyone she loves—or put them all in their graves.

My Review

Finally.

FINALLY.

I finished reading this. I was getting out of my slump a little, so I started it, then my slump said ‘yo, I’m not done with you’ and boom, had to put this down.

BUT. I. AM. FREE. OF. MY. SLUMP.

So let me drop this review now.

First off, you can read either Dark Shores or Dark Skies first, it doesn’t matter what order you read those two before you start on this one which is pretty neat.

This is combining the four perspectives of the two and it’s obviously the start of some wicked threading together of plots.

I AM SO EXCITED. This isn’t an immersion of the two stories yet but it’s clearly gearing towards that. We have so much at stake for both sets of couples and there’s no way that these issues aren’t going to clash like a pair of kick ass cymbals.

Jensen’s writing style is on point as always, she’s one of these authors that I know is going to literally put my heart through the shredder and I just barrel on for each book she puts out.

There is so much going on that it’s never a dull moment, in fact I would say at times it was almost a little overwhelming and you had to just take a moment to breathe before diving back in. I say you. I mean me.

There’s more of Teriana and Marcus, and after having not read up on these two since Dark Shores it was a bit like coming home, and yet, I have SUCH a soft spot for Lydia and Killian. (Teriana and Lydia will always be my fave ‘relationship’ they are friendship goals.)

The revelations are INTENSE. Holy cow like that combined with the nonstop action made this a serious ‘rollercoaster’ of a read for me.

Oh. Did I mention it ends on like some cliffhanger? JENSEN!!! *Shakes fists*

With such an engaging writing style, intense action scenes and SUPER intense revelations, I loved this. It’s on my 2021 fave releases list on GoodReads and you can bet I’ll be sitting here counting down the days until I get the fourth book. I NEED SO MANY ANSWERS.

If you like an action packed book with some delightful romance and crazy emotional reads…I suggest this series in general.

Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book is out and about in the world for sure, so please go check it out if you feel like it.

Guess I’ll go reread Tarnished Empire while I wait.
