The Kiss Countdown

A struggling event planner and a sinfully hot astronaut must decide if their fake relationship is worth a shot at happily-ever-after, in this starry debut.

So, I’m not a typical modern Romance reader. I try to branch out but this is probably the genre I read the least and usually because I enjoy it the least. This nugget of joy though? It was a total cover read. LOOK AT THAT COVER. It’s so pretty and hello handsome astronaut man? Yea okay I was sold on this couple before even opening the book lol. But on a more serious note, this was definitely the perfect sort of modern romance for me. I am lowkey NASA obsessed (or was. You know). Anyway, with my love of space and astronauts and a fake dating trope, I took this beauty home from the library and pretty much devoured it once I got on a roll.

I loved the MC she is so relatable, life is not doing so hot, she loves her family would do anything for her parents, and is just such a kind person over all that you’re rooting for her so much. And her LI? He’s perfect haha, I stand by that. I was smitten with him from the start too. As I said, I really was in for this couple before they even got started. And when they did? Double loved them.

My main issue and why this got 3.5 instead of full 4 cups (I will almost always round up though as you’ll note on GR) is because of a third act trope I am really, REALLY not a fan of. I just usually feel like it can be unnecessary and throws me out of the moment. And that did happen a *little* here. Not enough to dim my enjoyment of the book but enough for me to get pulled out of the story enough and sort of just curse the skies for the ‘blip.’

Still, Easton has such a fantastic writing voice, it’s strong and so personable that it makes it very easy to just take off reading on this book and I am going to assume it’s the same with her other book The Love Simulation. Again this was a solid read, just a romcom playing in my head and it’s just the right romcom at just the right time so I’m very pleased with this as I go to dive back into my other usual genres. It was a nice change up for me and certainly worth the read. I’d recommend it to anyone who liked romcoms or romances and especially to any that like that certain third act trope.

3.5 Cups of coffee from me, off to go be a real adult and play a Star Wars video game now. Again. SPACE.
