MY REVIEW
Before we begin, should you be interested in reading the first book (or just reading my review of it) you can find that here/right belwo:
Now onto the review!
This was once again a super fun read with the return of a very endearing sleuthing couple. I admit my memory is fuzzy from the first book but I do remember enjoying it and the fact that it was just a little different than other stuff I’d read. And that’s still true, this is still a unique sleuthing duo! They are onto their second murder and now it’s time to figure it out; was the first success a fluke or are these two onto something?
They’re just supposed to help a friend out while doing a weekend stay but then what was helping a friend’s suspicions turns into a tense weekend of whodunit. The victims are starting to pile up, and the water is too high to go for help, so will our married couple be able to figure it out?
I loved this it was somehow cozy and tense all at once. A nice cozy murder; perfect for me and hopefully perfect for other readers out there. I think that this had a nice twist with the sudden floods and multiple murders, it was just too delightful. Goldie’s got a nice way with making things flow, it’s a very easy to read vibe and I do enjoy the 1920s vernacular, it’s swell lol.
It’s nice seeing a married couple learning to still understand each other and capabilities as well as working together toward a common goal and it never feels too far fetched, even with multiple bodies; which is great.
Good pacing, good characters, good murder. I just wish there’d been more of Alisdair and Melissa interacting together. Either way, 4/5 cups of coffee from me and if you have KU (US) then you can find this book on there if you want.
