Awakening Anne Review

At first glance, Margaret Ward appears like any other heiress living a charmed life on the upper east side of Manhattan. Behind the door of her peculiar parlor, Maggie delves into the secrets of the unknown, exploring her talents as a spiritualist medium.

GoodReads

A medium who lives in NY and is a lady of the upper classes, and ghosts. It’s a great mix. There’s a hint of romance, there’s intrigue, drama, spooks, and more!

I thought Maggie was a super delightful character. I loved her immediately and I loved how cozy her read was while still being a ghost story with a mystery and some hints at romance. She’s a unique character and I also enjoyed watching her deal with the inner demons of her talent as a medium after having seen a possible different side to what comes with her abilities.

Also yay for a book sent in this time period in America, it’s a nice change of -personal- pace for me.

The cast of characters in general were a win for me though, not just Maggie. I liked the differences between her and her brother, I loved that we had female friendship and that there was someone to be there to help along the way with her powers.

Overall it’s a quick and satisfying read and I definitely will be continuing on to book 2! 4/5 Huge cups of coffee from me! A short review but really. just think of me clapping, jumping up and down and saying ‘I love it,’ and there you have it.
