If you ever wanted to know what a drug trip might feel like while never having done drugs, like myself, and just set it all in space…Might I suggest this? And you know what? I think I’d reread this again. It was fun, unique, the art was gorgeous, and it was just weird enough to keep me invested.

This was another read for the Goodbye Comics club I’m part of which meets at our awesome local comic book store Hello Comics. This is also a hefty volume, over 350 pages long so be prepared to buckle up and—-do it in multiple sittings. Don’t pull a me, don’t read this in one go. Because holy crap I’m not sure my brain handled that well. There’s a lot going on and I don’t just mean with the different plot threads and shenanigans but also with the gorgeous art.

Speaking of that art, we all pretty much agreed on how amazing the artwork was for this so if you’re a big comic book person and haven’t read this, that alone might appeal to you.

As far as the plot goes, there is somewhat of one and it threads all together pretty late in the game but I think I see it. Or my brain made one up to cope. Something like that. There are so many weird things that you could read this probably three times and find a handful of new things every read (and beyond those three reads as well lol).

The characters are a lot of fun and the Girl Guides were actually my favorite, their adventures definitely made me grin and the idea of them (tink Girl Scouts but openly admit to hustling and get badges for said hustling) was fantastic. There’s also a lot of great ways to read this without having to buy it. If your local library doesn’t have it, they have all the issues except one on this site here which someone popped into the Club chat: Starstruck Comics and that includes the second volume up there too! It’s also on KU** if you use that.

Overall it was so quirky and so fascinating that I enjoyed it but I also was like ‘this is ridiculous’ so be forewarned. This could very much not be your cup of tea or you will end up just sitting back and enjoying the ride.

I did go ahead and read the second Volume and pretty much this review can be applied to it too just add in the fact that the plot for that one is definitely more solid and cohesive (and coherent lolol).

Because this left me in such a ‘what did I just read?’ moment, I didn’t give it a rating but I hope this review might help you decide to read (or not read) it! So, no cups of coffee from me, only chaos.
