My Review
I don’t know how I haven’t read this sooner. Seriously, one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve been sleeping on this book! (Perhaps pun intended)
The writing is so lyrical and flowing that I was flying through 500(+) pages effortlessly and barely wanted to put it down. Lazlo and Sarai were both just precious to me. I think it’s been a minute since I just adored both MCs so equally. Lately, it’s been more of an ‘I like this one and I wish the other would just shoo,’ but not in this case.
Lazlo and Sarai both have their very fleshed-out stories and circle of characters while also being built up to have possible worlds collide. I think everyone was just given this sort of depth that you wanted to know more, no one had clean hands, there was a very raw moral compass to all of them that made you believe they were real.
The worldbuilding is just magnificent, I love learning about new worlds, and I love details so this was great. And for me, the pacing was great. I wanted to drink it all in and not feel rushed and all the while Taylor sets down the path that leads to you the utter… *incoherent noises here* ground-shaking ending.
I can’t wait to pick up the sequel, but I have a feeling this book will also be a possible favorite and devastate me because leave no doubt, this devastated me. Do you want to suffer through a book that will rip out your heart, dance on it and place it back in your chest? Then read this!
5/5 Hgue cups of coffee from me and hopefully I’ll be reading and reviewing the sequel soon!
